The Lucie Awards gala ceremony is an occasion for the global photography community to recognize and pay tribute to exceptional achievements in photography. Awards will be presented in various categories, including Lifetime Achievement, which honors distinguished men and women who have made significant contributions to the fields of fashion, photojournalism, advertising, portraiture, sports, documentary, and fine art photography. The Advisory Board nominates deserving individuals for each category, and winners are determined through a tally of votes.
At the Lucie Awards Gala, the winners of the IPA Photographer of the Year and Discovery of the Year awards are announced and presented with cash prizes and the coveted Lucie Statue. Additionally, a renowned curator is invited each year to select 20-25 images from the professional and non-professional pools of winners for an exclusive exhibition in New York City, following the conclusion of the Lucie Awards week.
The IPA Category Winners' works are also showcased at the Best of Show event, where they receive the IPA Trophy. After the New York opening, the Best of Show exhibition goes on tour to various locations worldwide, including photo festivals, galleries, and other photography-related events, for the following year.
