The annual initiative by Swedish camera brand Hasselblad, known as Hasselblad Heroines, is back for its fifth year. This programme celebrates the achievements of female photographers who are breaking new ground in their field, with the goal of inspiring the next generation of women to pursue their creative vision. This year, for the first time, the nomination process is open to the public from all around the world. Women at any stage of their creative journey, regardless of their experience with Hasselblad cameras, are eligible for nomination.
The selected Hasselblad Heroines will have the opportunity to create a new body of work for a global audience on the Hasselblad platform. Hasselblad will provide them with support, including a loan of a camera and lenses to start their visual project. The programme winners will collaborate with Hasselblad to create a collection of photographs that showcase their unique aesthetic and journey as a photographer. The official Hasselblad website and social media channels will feature the works and stories of these Hasselblad Heroines throughout the year.
