The Peace Image of the Year winner will receive a cash prize of €10,000 and their work will be showcased for one year at the Austrian Parliament, as well as added to the permanent art collection of the institution. Additionally, the top five photographers will be presented with the prestigious Alfred Fried Peace Medal, and their works will also be exhibited at the Austrian Parliament for one year.

The winner of the Children's Peace Image of the Year will receive a cash prize of €1,000 and their photograph will be exhibited at the Austrian Parliament for one year. All winners are also invited to attend the award ceremony at the Austrian Parliament on 14 November 2022. Moreover, all submitted images have the potential to be featured in international exhibitions.

The Global Peace Photo Award is granted by Edition Lammerhuber and the Photographische Gesellschaft (PHG), a photographic society established in Vienna in 1861, making it the oldest society of its kind in the German-speaking nations and the second-oldest in the world. Edition Lammerhuber, an Austrian publisher based in Baden near Vienna, is committed to photography, science, and art.

The Global Peace Photo Award is organized in collaboration with several partners, including UNESCO, Austrian Parliament, Austrian Parliamentary Reporting Association, International Press Institute (IPI), German Youth Photography Award, World Press Photo Foundation, POY LATAM, LensCulture, and Vienna Insurance Group.
