PhotoVogue’s Global Open Call welcomes photographers and video makers from every part of the world to submit work that challenges passive looking and transforms the way we experience images. Under the theme Brave New Visions, the open call celebrates artists who approach photography and moving image as spaces for experimentation, questioning, imagination, and new forms of visual expression.
The call is open across genres, including fashion, documentary, portraiture, fine art, conceptual photography, experimental work, and video. Rather than defining a single aesthetic or subject, it encourages artists to develop their own visual language and to explore subjects from perspectives that feel personal, unexpected, or unconventional.
In a culture saturated with images, Brave New Visions asks what it means to create work that truly demands attention. The selected photographs and videos may challenge stereotypes, question familiar representations, explore complex identities, reveal hidden realities, or simply offer an unfamiliar way of looking at something we believe we already understand.
Artists are encouraged to take risks with form, narrative, technique, and perspective. Work may be subtle or confrontational, poetic or documentary, carefully constructed or spontaneously observed. What matters is the ability of the image to create a response and open a space for reflection, emotion, curiosity, or debate.
The open call recognizes photography and video as powerful tools for reshaping narratives and making visible experiences that are often ignored or misunderstood. It seeks work that moves beyond predictable visual formulas and introduces fresh perspectives into the contemporary image landscape.
Brave New Visions invites photographers and video makers to resist indifference, challenge visual habits, and imagine new possibilities for how stories can be told. It is an opportunity to present work that not only represents the world, but actively questions, reinterprets, and expands our understanding of it.
