Welcome to the WALK OF WATER: WATER TOWERS Photo Story Contest!
World Water Day 2025 focuses on glaciers, aligning with the International Year of Glacier Preservation—a vital theme set by UN-Water.
To celebrate, Onewater, the UNESCO World Water Assessment Programme, and partners are hosting the WALK OF WATER international photo story contest. This year, we challenge photographers to illuminate the pressing issues of disappearing glaciers and the evolving nature of water storage systems—both natural and man-made.
Photostories should center on one of these themes:
Glaciers in retreat: Highlight the effects of climate change on people and the environment, following the journey of water from source to sea.
The diversity of water storage: Explore the role of glaciers, reservoirs, and other water systems, showcasing their changing landscapes.
Emerging 'water towers': Present innovative water management strategies, alternative freshwater solutions, or creative interpretations of water conservation.
We seek imaginative and thought-provoking stories that address critical water issues, from glacial loss to broader conservation efforts. Use your lens to inspire action and spark conversations on this crucial topic.
Join us in redefining ‘water towers’ through your unique perspective. We’re excited to see the stories you’ll share!
This year’s contest is sponsored by MPB, the Asian Development Bank (ADB), the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), and the City of Burghausen. Submissions will be handled via our trusted partner, Picter.
