Travel Photographer of the Year (TPOTY) is an international photography competition with a distinctive identity: it is created by photographers, for photographers. Since its foundation, TPOTY has focused not only on the photographs themselves, but also on the people who create them. The competition aims to celebrate photographic talent, creativity and individual vision, providing photographers from around the world with an opportunity to have their work discovered, shared and appreciated by an international audience.

One of the defining characteristics of TPOTY is its inclusive approach. The competition is open to photographers of all ages, nationalities, backgrounds and levels of experience, regardless of where they live or how long they have been practicing photography. Participants may be enthusiastic amateurs documenting their journeys and personal experiences, established professionals working internationally, or emerging photographers taking their first steps into the world of photography. Whether someone has spent decades behind the camera or is entering a major international competition for the first time, TPOTY offers a platform where their work can be considered on its own merits.

For 24 years, TPOTY has played an important role in celebrating outstanding travel photography while discovering and supporting photographic talent from around the world. Over the course of its history, the competition has attracted entries from an impressive 160 countries, reflecting the truly international nature of its community. Its winners have represented 60 different nationalities and have included both professional and amateur photographers, demonstrating the diversity of perspectives and experiences that define the competition.

At its core, TPOTY is a celebration of the way photography allows us to understand and experience the world. Travel photography can capture landscapes, people, cultures, traditions and fleeting moments, but it can also communicate personal stories and individual perspectives. Every image offers a different way of seeing the world, and TPOTY provides photographers with an international platform through which they can share those stories, connect with audiences and have their creative vision recognized.
