TLOUPAS PATH – Photography Award of Thessaly's Heritage is an international photography competition and festival held in Larissa, Greece, celebrating the legacy of the distinguished Greek photographer Takis Tloupas. At its heart, the project is an invitation to look more carefully at the world around us: at the landscapes we inhabit, the communities we build, the traditions we preserve and the quiet, often overlooked moments that give a place its identity.
The theme of this edition, “Renaissance,” explores the idea of beginning again. At a time when individuals, communities and environments are facing profound challenges, TLOUPAS PATH invites photographers to search for images of resilience, transformation and hope. The competition is interested in those moments when something emerges from difficulty with renewed energy or a different perspective. Inspired by Tloupas's deeply humanistic vision, participants are encouraged to photograph whatever demonstrates the possibility of renewal: a landscape slowly recovering, a tradition being brought back to life, a community finding new ways forward, or the simple routines of everyday life returning after a period of disruption.
The competition welcomes photographers of every level, from experienced professionals to passionate amateurs, provided they are aged 18 or over. Participants from anywhere in the world may enter by submitting a series of three to five original photographs. Images must be submitted in JPEG/JPG format, preferably in sRGB, with a minimum long-side dimension of 1920 pixels and a maximum file size of 5 MB per photograph.
The competition places particular importance on photographic authenticity. Standard adjustments such as brightness, contrast and cropping are permitted, allowing photographers to refine their images while preserving their original character. However, adding or removing elements from photographs is not permitted, nor are images generated using Artificial Intelligence tools. To protect the integrity of the judging process, photographs must also be submitted without watermarks, signatures or logos, ensuring that the jury can evaluate each work anonymously and on its visual and artistic qualities.
Held under the auspices of the Region of Thessaly and co-financed by the European Union, TLOUPAS PATH seeks to grow beyond a single competition and become a lasting international platform for photography and cultural heritage. By bringing together photographers and stories from different parts of the world, the initiative aims to create a space where contemporary photography can meet history, place and memory, while celebrating the many forms that renewal can take.
