Launched in 2022, the Prize is a significant feature of the V&A’s Parasol Foundation Women in Photography curatorial program. This initiative is dedicated to spotlighting the artistic endeavors of women photographers in contemporary practice while honoring the foundational role women have played throughout photography’s history. By offering a platform for recognition and support, the program aims to inspire and sustain women’s participation in the photographic arts.

The Prize is presented in collaboration with Peckham 24, South London’s pioneering photography festival that embraces innovation and creativity within the medium. The establishment of the Prize has been made possible thanks to the visionary philanthropy of Ms. Ruth Monicka Parasol and The Parasol Foundation Trust.
