First launched in 2022, the Prize is a cornerstone of the V&A’s Parasol Foundation Women in Photography curatorial program. Designed to champion the work of women photographers, the program seeks to elevate their practices in contemporary photography and amplify their voices within the artistic community. Additionally, it acknowledges the invaluable contributions women have made to photography’s evolution, both past and present.

The Prize is organized in partnership with Peckham 24, a vibrant South London photography festival that is celebrated for its creative exploration of the art form. This initiative is generously supported by Ms. Ruth Monicka Parasol and The Parasol Foundation Trust, whose contributions have been vital to its success.
