Introduced in 2022, the Prize is an integral part of the V&A’s Parasol Foundation Women in Photography curatorial program. This initiative aims to highlight and celebrate the creativity, resilience, and innovation of women in contemporary photography while drawing attention to the significant, often overlooked, contributions women have made to photography’s historical narrative. Through this program, the V&A seeks to inspire future generations of women photographers and create a supportive platform for their work.
This Prize is presented in partnership with Peckham 24, an inventive photography festival in South London known for its forward-thinking approach to showcasing photographic talent. The Prize owes its existence to the philanthropic contributions of Ms. Ruth Monicka Parasol and The Parasol Foundation Trust, whose support has been instrumental in bringing this vision to fruition.
