The Sonntag Grant for Photography is opening its doors for the very first time, inviting submissions for an international open call. At the heart of this initiative is the commitment to amplify voices from the FLINTA community—female, lesbian, inter, non-binary, trans, and agender photographers—who are shaping the future of photography through their perspectives and artistic practices. One selected project will receive €3,000 in direct support, enabling the artist to continue developing and realizing their vision.
For this debut edition, there is no assigned theme. Instead, artists are free to submit work that reflects their unique ideas, questions, and experiences. From deeply personal narratives to wide-ranging social explorations, from carefully staged scenes to raw documentary, from analog experimentation to digital innovation—the grant welcomes it all. Both newly conceived projects and works already in progress are eligible, creating space for a diverse range of approaches and voices.
By supporting and showcasing projects in this way, the Sonntag Grant highlights photography’s power as a tool for expression, storytelling, and transformation, while centering the visibility of artists who have historically been underrepresented in the field.
