The Homiens Art Prize is an international award designed to recognize and advance outstanding artistic talent across all stages of professional development. Whether you are an emerging artist seeking meaningful exposure and career-building opportunities, or an established practitioner looking to expand your reach and strengthen your professional profile, the prize offers a highly respected platform for visibility and recognition.
Open to artists working in all disciplines, the Homiens Art Prize welcomes submissions across a broad spectrum of contemporary artistic practices, including painting, photography, sculpture, drawing, printmaking, installation, mixed media, digital art, video, and audiovisual works. There are no thematic restrictions, no size limitations, and artworks created in any year are eligible for consideration. This open framework allows artists complete freedom to present work that best represents their vision, practice, and creative achievements.
Each competition round recognizes a select group of artists through a tiered awards structure. Three winners, twelve finalists, and up to two hundred highly commended artists are chosen by the selection panel and presented through Homiens' quarterly exhibitions and promotional initiatives. This extensive recognition program ensures that a significant number of talented artists receive meaningful visibility within an international context.
As one of the organization's flagship initiatives, the Homiens Art Prize awards more than $12,000 USD annually and serves as a cornerstone of its mission to accelerate artistic careers. Beyond financial support, the prize provides artists with access to a growing international audience of collectors, curators, arts professionals, institutions, and cultural organizations. Previous participants have described the experience as transformative, citing increased visibility, exhibition opportunities, professional connections, and measurable career growth resulting from their participation.
Artists selected through the program benefit from a range of promotional opportunities, including participation in quarterly exhibitions, inclusion in the curated "Meet the Artists" series, eligibility for the Promoted Artists program, and the opportunity to be featured in "The Art of Art: Interviews," a series highlighting the ideas, processes, and practices of selected artists. These initiatives are designed to create sustained engagement rather than one-time exposure, helping artists establish a stronger presence within the contemporary art ecosystem.
In keeping with its commitment to accessibility and inclusivity, Homiens also offers a limited number of free submissions during each round. These no-questions-asked fee waivers are intended to ensure that financial circumstances do not prevent talented artists from participating. Once the available allocation has been exhausted, the option is removed from the submission portal for that round.
