The Homiens Art Prize offers artists an opportunity to transform recognition into meaningful professional momentum. Designed for both emerging artists seeking a breakthrough and established professionals looking to expand their international profile, the prize provides a platform where artistic achievement can lead to greater visibility, new connections and further career opportunities. Its approach is centred on artistic merit and on creating meaningful exposure for artists working across a diverse range of contemporary practices.
Unlike competitions built around a specific theme or medium, the Homiens Art Prize is deliberately open-ended. Artists are invited to submit work in virtually any form, from painting and sculpture to photography, drawing, printmaking, installation and audiovisual art. There are no restrictions on when a work was created, no prescribed subject or theme, and no limitations on size. This freedom allows artists to enter with existing works that are representative of their practice rather than producing new work specifically for the competition.
Each round, the prize recognises 10 winners alongside up to 200 highly commended artists, creating a broad community of artists whose work receives formal recognition. The winners are featured in Homiens' quarterly exhibitions, providing a dedicated platform for presenting their work to an international audience and increasing their visibility within the contemporary art landscape.
The prize also provides substantial financial support, with over $12,000 USD awarded annually. This funding is part of Homiens' wider mission of career acceleration. The organisation presents the prize not simply as an award, but as a mechanism for helping artists move forward professionally and develop opportunities that extend beyond the competition itself.
At the centre of this approach is the creation of connections between artists and the wider art ecosystem. Participation can help bridge the gap between creative production and the professional networks surrounding the international art market, including public institutions, curators and private buyers. For artists, this means an opportunity not only to have their work seen but also to become part of a broader network of cultural and commercial relationships.
International visibility is further supported through Homiens' range of editorial and promotional initiatives. Selected artists may be featured through the curated Meet the Artists series or included in the Promoted Artists programme. Winning artists may also take part in the optional The Art of Art: Interviews series, offering a more personal platform to discuss their artistic practice, creative ideas and professional journey.
By combining recognition, exhibition opportunities, annual funding, promotion and access to professional networks, the Homiens Art Prize is structured as a comprehensive career-development platform. It seeks to give artists more than a title or award: it aims to provide the visibility, connections and opportunities that can help their work move further into the international art world.
