The Homiens Art Prize is designed for artists who are ready to take the next step in their careers, whether they are emerging creatives looking for their first major international opportunity or established professionals seeking new audiences and greater recognition. More than simply an art competition, the prize provides a platform through which artists can showcase their work, gain international visibility and connect with influential figures across the contemporary art world.
The prize is open to all artists, regardless of their level of experience or artistic background. There are no limitations on the type of artwork that can be submitted: painting, sculpture, photography, drawing, printmaking, installation, audiovisual work and other forms of contemporary artistic practice are all eligible. Artists are also free to submit works created in any year, with no restrictions regarding subject matter, theme or physical dimensions.
Every round, the Homiens Art Prize celebrates a broad selection of artists, with 10 winners and up to 200 highly commended artists announced. Winning artists are given the opportunity to feature in the prize's quarterly exhibitions, providing a professional setting in which their work can be presented to an international audience.
The prize also offers significant financial support, awarding more than $12,000 USD each year. This funding forms part of Homiens' wider commitment to accelerating artists' careers and creating opportunities that can have a lasting impact on professional development. Previous participants have described the prize as an important catalyst for personal and professional growth.
Beyond the award itself, participation gives artists access to a broader ecosystem connecting creative practitioners with key stakeholders in the global art market. This includes public institutions, curators and private buyers, helping artists move beyond simply producing work and towards developing meaningful professional relationships.
Homiens also provides additional opportunities for artists to build their international profile. Selected artists may be featured through the curated Meet the Artists initiative and the Promoted Artists programme. Winning artists can also choose to take part in The Art of Art: Interviews, offering them an additional opportunity to discuss their creative process, ideas and artistic journey with a wider audience.
For artists seeking recognition, exposure and opportunities for meaningful career development, the Homiens Art Prize offers a comprehensive platform that combines exhibition, funding, promotion and access to the wider art world.
