The Fondation Henri Cartier-Bresson stands as a beacon of photographic excellence and artistic legacy. As a state-approved, non-profit institution, it is wholeheartedly dedicated to preserving and promoting the influential work of two of photography’s most celebrated figures: Henri Cartier-Bresson and Martine Franck. True to the spirit of its founders, the Fondation reaches beyond the past, embracing the present and future of photography by offering a platform for a diverse range of artists. For the past twenty years, it has enriched the cultural landscape through a vibrant exhibition schedule, introducing audiences to visionary bodies of work from across the globe.
At the heart of this commitment to creativity lies the Henri Cartier-Bresson Creation Award, a biennial prize that celebrates photographic ambition. Geared toward accomplished photographers whose practice is rooted in a documentary approach, the award provides crucial support for the realization or completion of a significant project. The recipient receives 35,000 euros, a substantial investment intended to fund both a solo exhibition at the Fondation and the publication of a dedicated volume—ensuring that the photographer’s voice reaches a wide and appreciative audience.
