The Fondation Henri Cartier-Bresson is a recognized state-approved non-profit organization committed to the conservation and celebration of the photographic legacy of Henri Cartier-Bresson and Martine Franck. Guided by the founding vision of these two celebrated photographers, the Fondation not only safeguards their archives and promotes their work, but also actively supports and showcases the work of other contemporary and historical artists. For more than two decades, the Fondation has curated an outstanding program of exhibitions that reflect a wide diversity of photographic expression, cementing its role as a central figure in the international photography scene.
One of the Fondation’s most notable initiatives is the Henri Cartier-Bresson Creation Award, formerly known as the HCB Award. Presented every two years, this prestigious prize is intended to support experienced photographers who have developed a compelling body of documentary-based work and are ready to undertake or complete a significant photographic project. The award includes a grant of 35,000 euros, which is designated to help fund both an exhibition at the Fondation and the production of a related publication, thus offering vital support to the advancement and dissemination of the photographer’s vision.
