The Cortona On The Move Award, now in its third edition and in partnership with LensCulture, is a free open call aimed at supporting photographers in developing and producing their projects. This initiative aligns with Cortona On The Move's commitment to seeking original and innovative narratives.
The open call, thematically unrestricted, invites submissions of projects in development or previously unpublished, encompassing diverse photographic approaches to the contemporary world, encouraging new perspectives and visions.
Here's how to participate:
Between April 10 and May 18, 2024, submissions are accepted based on specified criteria. Ten finalists will be chosen and showcased during the opening of Cortona On The Move 2024. From these finalists, one winner will receive a €3,000 prize and the opportunity to exhibit their project at the upcoming festival edition, while two other selected works will be featured on the LensCulture website.
Eligibility criteria include:
Submission of between 10 and 20 images related to the project, in .JPEG or .PNG format, with each image being a minimum of 1200 pixels on the longest side and not exceeding 10 MB.
Project title.
Brief introductory text in English about the work, not exceeding 4000 characters, including spaces, and image captions if applicable.
Short biography in English.
Participation is free of charge.
Finalist projects will be announced and showcased on the Cortona On The Move and LensCulture websites on June 30, 2024, and will be screened during the festival's opening days. Additionally, the winning project will be exhibited at the next Cortona On The Move edition, and two projects will be published on the LensCulture website in 2024. The three selected works will be announced and featured on both websites and social channels on July 13, 2024.
A selection jury comprising industry experts, including representatives from LensCulture and Cortona On The Move, will evaluate the proposed projects.
Participants are required to:
Ensure authorship and originality of their works.
Ensure that the exhibition of works does not infringe upon third-party rights.
Provide high-resolution images for projection, exhibition, and publication if selected.
Provide a selection of images with caption, copyright, and any courtesy for press, website, and promotional purposes if selected.
Participants also grant legal rights for the publication of selected works by Cortona On The Move for promotional purposes, and the winner grants temporary rights to ONTHEMOVE Cultural Association for various purposes related to the project.
The processing of personal data complies with EU Regulation 2016/679, with participants' data being used exclusively for open call registration purposes. Failure to provide necessary data may result in procedural delays or impossibilities.
