Mark Rothko believed that color alone was never enough — that art must be a conduit for the grandest emotions: tragedy, ecstasy, and doom. In his words: “If you are only moved by color relationships, you are missing the point.” The Power of Color is inspired by this belief — that color, while often silent, is a profound language of feeling. It is a perception and a pulse, a tool of expression that can transcend words. It whispers or screams, and in doing so, reveals truths that lie beneath the surface.

We are inviting photographers from around the world, age 18 and older, to submit to The Power of Color — an international open call seeking work that uses color as a vehicle for emotional and sensory storytelling. All two-dimensional photographic works are eligible: traditional darkroom prints, digital compositions, mixed media, and experimental approaches that maintain a photographic core. Whether subtle or bold, your use of color should reflect its potential to move, to question, and to connect.
