The Chateau Gallery - Call For Entry: The Art of Abandonment

What happens when we walk away—when time moves on and places are left behind? The Art of Abandonment invites photographers to investigate these moments of departure and what remains in their wake. Abandoned buildings, forgotten objects, and derelict landscapes all tell quiet stories. They remind us of what once was and what is slowly being erased. But in this decay, there is also beauty—a haunting kind of truth that speaks to memory, transition, and the fragility of the human experience.

This open call is a meditation on impermanence. Through your images, we seek reflections on what it means to leave, to forget, to let go. What are we really abandoning—structures and things, or the people, values, and moments they once held? How does place shape memory, and how does memory persist after a place is gone?

We welcome submissions from photographers worldwide, age 18 and older. We’re looking for work in all photographic styles and methods—whether traditional prints, experimental processes, digital manipulation, or analog techniques. Both conventional and non-conventional media are encouraged, as long as the image is rooted in photographic language.

This is more than an exhibition—it's a shared inquiry into the spaces we no longer occupy, and the truths that linger in the shadows. Show us what you’ve found, what has been forgotten, and what deserves to be seen again.
