The Chateau Gallery - Call For Entry: The Art of Abandonment

The Art of Abandonment is an international call for photographic submissions that invites artists to explore themes of abandonment, memory, and rediscovery. We are seeking photographic work that captures the emotional, historical, and aesthetic dimensions of neglected or forgotten places, objects, and structures. These abandoned elements—whether physical remnants or ephemeral impressions—offer insight into the passage of time and the marks humanity leaves behind.

This exhibition encourages artists to ask critical and reflective questions: What does it mean to abandon something—or someone? What traces remain when a space is no longer occupied or maintained? How do these remnants speak to who we are, who we were, and how we move through the world? In photographing what has been lost or overlooked, artists have the power to reframe narratives and preserve fleeting moments before they disappear entirely.

Photographers age 18 and over are invited to participate. Submissions are open to all forms of two-dimensional photographic art, including traditional, experimental, and mixed-media work. We welcome both analog and digital approaches, as well as alternative photographic processes, provided the photographic medium serves as the basis of the work. Whether your focus is on a decaying building, a forsaken industrial site, or a solitary object rediscovered after years of neglect, we want to see how you interpret the concept of abandonment through your unique lens.
