Pharmacopeia: a word that conjures many possible images. Does it bring forth the idea of a catalog, an archive of substances—each one tied to a personal memory of temptation, dependency, or release? Perhaps it evokes the tension of recovery and relapse, or the restless cycle of intoxication and clarity. For some, the mind itself becomes a labyrinth, a surveillance chamber of chaos and disorder, haunted by fear yet driven by the hope of transcendence. Did substances shape your practice, intentionally or otherwise, or were your moments of creation born from altered states of being?

This is the spirit behind Pharmacopoeia, an international open call for photographers aged 18 and above. We invite submissions from artists working across all forms of two-dimensional imagery—whether traditional or experimental, conventional or alternative. Every entry must carry a photographic foundation, whether rooted in analog or digital practices, yet may stretch into unconventional materials and methods.
