Pharmacopeia (n.): a formal compendium of medicinal substances. But beyond its clinical definition, what cultural, personal, or emotional connotations does this term hold for you? Does it represent a structured taxonomy—or a fragmented archive of personal encounters with chemicals, prescriptions, or recreational drugs? Might it reflect a history of dependency, an evolving relationship with intoxication, or an attempt to regulate the ungovernable? Does your mind act as a panopticon, observing its own dysfunction—a metaphorical prison of compulsion and distortion? How has substance—whether as inspiration, crutch, or coincidence—influenced the way you see, feel, and create?

Pharmacopoeia is a global open call for photographic submissions from artists aged 18 and older. We are seeking work that engages with the intersections of substance and self, perception and reality, structure and chaos. All two-dimensional photographic works are eligible for consideration, including—but not limited to—traditional film and digital photographs, mixed-media pieces, experimental media, and alternative photographic processes. Submissions should originate from a photographic framework, while embracing subjective interpretation, formal exploration, and emotional depth.
