Dreams are mysterious territories, rich with symbolism and emotion, where reality dissolves into fluid imagery and unconscious narratives take center stage. Behind closed eyes, we encounter scenes that may defy logic but pulse with meaning—images born from the shadows of our inner selves. Often strange, sometimes disjointed, these visions carry fragments of truth hidden beneath layers of metaphor. Through dream analysis, we can peel back those layers and access the latent content concealed within—the parts of ourselves shaped by unspoken longings, fears, instincts, and impulses.

In waking life, we suppress these primal forces, protecting our sense of control by keeping such raw emotions at bay. But in sleep, the mind becomes porous. Fantasies and forgotten memories spill forth, and our inner worlds come alive. As you pass through that liminal threshold, what do you see? What symbols recur? Which scenes shake you, soothe you, or leave you wondering: Am I still asleep? Is this dream, or something else entirely?

Lucid — In Dreams is an open call for photographers aged 18 and up, inviting you to engage with this fertile terrain of the unconscious. We are seeking submissions that reflect a dreamlike sensibility, however it may manifest. All forms of two-dimensional photographic work are eligible—whether rooted in classic techniques or exploring new media, analog experimentation or digital manipulation. This international call celebrates the power of photography to capture not just what is seen, but what is felt in the quiet hours of the night.
