The concept of beauty is inherently subjective, varying greatly between cultures, individuals, and contexts. Despite this, societal frameworks often promote rigid, homogeneous definitions of beauty, encouraging artists and audiences alike to adhere to established aesthetic standards. Yet, historically, the most transcendent and groundbreaking works of art have often emerged from those who defy these norms. Innovation—particularly in the creative arts—typically results not from conformity, but from disruption. Artists who question prevailing paradigms and forge new visual languages play a critical role in expanding our understanding of what beauty can be. This raises an essential question: How does your work engage with or challenge traditional notions of beauty?

Beauty in Decay is an international photographic exhibition open to participants aged 18 and above. It welcomes a diverse array of submissions, encompassing all forms of two-dimensional image-making. This includes both conventional and unconventional approaches, ranging from traditional film photography to avant-garde digital techniques and hybrid media practices. As long as the piece is rooted in a photographic framework—whether analog or digital, subjective or abstract—it is eligible. We seek works that not only reflect beauty but also interrogate its meaning, pushing the boundaries of visual culture in the process.
