The Boomer Gallery - "What is Art?" Open Call for Artists and Photographers

What defines art in the 21st century? What gives it value?

The evolving discourse around art today is more dynamic than ever. While some creators uphold the traditions of their medium, others venture into bold, uncharted territories, sparking ongoing debate about the essence of art and what makes it meaningful.

Modern art defies a singular path to success. The journeys of today’s most celebrated and affluent artists reveal that a wide spectrum of styles and approaches can achieve recognition and value.

This exhibition seeks to do more than display art; it fosters dialogue between contrasting perspectives within contemporary art. By embracing the diversity of artistic expression, it demonstrates that success is a multifaceted concept, where every approach holds its unique value.

The guest of honor for this 8th edition is Anthony Fawcett, a globally celebrated art critic and historian, who will share his insights on these themes during the opening event on January 10th.

Fawcett’s illustrious career began at Vogue at age 18 and spans collaborations with Man Ray, John Lennon, Yoko Ono, Andy Warhol, and Charles Saatchi. His legacy includes the Beck’s Art Sponsorship Programme, consulting roles, and projects with artists like Francis Bacon and Tracey Emin. Currently, he is collaborating with the Tate Gallery on the “Anthony Fawcett Archive,” cementing his influence on the art world.
