The Australian Photographic Prize is open to photographers of all experience levels, including professionals, emerging talents, amateurs, and students, both from across Australia and internationally. Following an exceptional year in 2025, which attracted more than 2,500 entries from 21 countries, the competition reached its highest level of participation to date. Building on this momentum, the 2026 edition is set to be even more expansive, competitive, and rewarding for participants.
One of the defining strengths of the Australian Photographic Prize lies in its wide range of categories, offering photographers the opportunity to showcase their work across multiple genres and styles. In addition, entrants benefit from detailed, high-quality online feedback designed to support artistic growth and professional development. A standout feature of the competition is the livestream judging of the top 30 entries in each category, where participants and audiences alike can watch in real time as a panel of leading photographic experts evaluate, score, and discuss the images.
