The 2025 Awards judging panel brings together a remarkable fusion of creative minds from across photography, music, and film, each offering their distinct perspective to this year’s selection process. At the helm is Rankin—an iconic figure in the world of visual media. As the co-founder of the MPA and one of Britain’s most celebrated photographers, publishers, and film directors, Rankin’s leadership ensures this year’s judging is guided by expertise, vision, and artistic integrity.
This year’s panel is further elevated by a lineup of special guest judges whose influence spans multiple creative industries. Music legend Nile Rodgers, known for his groundbreaking work as a producer and guitarist, lends his unmatched experience and insight to the judging process. Joining him is multi-talented actor and musician Joe Keery, also known by his musical alias Djo, and Eric Burton, the soulful and genre-defying voice of Black Pumas. The panel also features the esteemed Dimitri From Paris, whose reputation as a global DJ and producer precedes him, and Julia Cumming, frontwoman of the indie-rock band Sunflower Bean, whose artistic voice is both fearless and inspiring.
From the world of photography, the panel is just as formidable. Scarlet Page, known for her evocative portraits of musicians and cultural figures, brings decades of experience. She is joined by Tom Pallant, a two-time MPA winner celebrated for his dynamic visual storytelling, and Bolade Banjo, a rising star and MPA nominee known for capturing authenticity and emotion. Acclaimed visual artist Shot by Nee, the trailblazing Janette Beckman, whose work has chronicled entire music movements, and Simon Wheatley, renowned for his culturally rich documentary photography, round out the team.
Together, these judges represent a vibrant cross-section of contemporary creative excellence, ensuring the 2025 Awards will reflect a diverse, thoughtful, and truly global perspective.
