Every photography competition has its own rhythm—a dance between mastery and fortune. Skill gets you in the door: the control of light, the framing of a moment, the careful crafting of a scene until it speaks. But there’s also an unpredictable element. Out of thousands of stunning entries, what makes one image rise to the top often comes down to something as intangible as the mood of the judging panel on that day. Their personal tastes, instincts, and emotional responses all play a role. That’s the beauty of creative work—it resists pure objectivity. And that’s exactly why we don’t limit our celebration to a mere three winners. Instead, we unveil and honor the Top 101 landscape photographs each year, giving more artists the recognition they deserve.
The beauty of the Top 101 collection lies in its variety. Here you’ll find single, unaltered moments of pure photographic instinct alongside bold composite works that weave multiple captures into a seamless visual story. We welcome all interpretations of landscape photography, so long as the roots of the image are grounded in the craft. This openness gives you the freedom to experiment, to create, and to send us the piece that best reflects your vision. Then it’s over to our judges to decide whether your work belongs in the year’s most distinguished photographic showcase.
Now in our twelfth year, the International Landscape Photographer of the Year Awards continues to grow in both reach and prestige. For us, the greatest success is seeing photographers—whether emerging or established—secure a place in our annual book. This publication, available as a lavish hardcover and a widely accessible online edition, is more than just a record of winners—it’s a celebration of landscape photography at its finest.
And for those who take home the major awards, there’s more than prestige waiting. With US$12,500 in total cash prizes, gleaming trophies, and printed copies of the book, the rewards are both tangible and lasting. But perhaps the greatest prize is seeing your work admired by the world, framed within the pages of a collection that captures the best landscapes of the year.
