"FILLING THE GAP"
-
Advanced Course on The Contemporary Image by Fondazione Studio
Marangoni
Applications are open until October 18, 2024, for 10 scholarships worth €3,000 each, thanks to the
support of Fondazione CR Firenze.
Filling The Gap aims to create
a bridge between research and artistic production through international
training, positioning Florence at the center of photographic culture. The course features high
-
profile
instructors and guest speakers, including Elisa Medde, Salvatore Vitale, Daniele
De Luigi, Chiara
Ruberti, Skinnerboox and Kublaiklan.
Starting in January 2025, the master’s program offers advanced training for 15 photographers,
researchers, and creatives, focusing on the development of a personal project. Two key areas receive
specia
l attention: Transmedia Narratives and Impact/Circulation. Intensive workshops will help
participants define their projects and guide their execution, addressing themes such as Post
-
Photography, Automated Image, and Post
-
Documentary. The Impact/Circulation
aspect focuses on
project dissemination and promotion, communication, audience engagement, exhibition design, and
publishing.
The course culminates in a final exhibition in November 2025, featuring an open dialogue on new
approaches to image creation and
consumption through installations and editorial projects.
TEACHING METHOD
The course takes place two weekends per month (with online lessons via remote learning and 5 in
-
person weekends). The periodic meetings at Studio Marangoni with international artists
and
professionals will provide a unique opportunity for our students to learn, engage, and study in the
exceptional setting of Florence.
WHO IT'S FOR:
Filling The Gap is an advanced consolidation course, a specialization program for higher
-
level training.
It is designed not only for photographers but also for potential researchers and image
-
makers who work
in post
-
photography, with a particular focus on post
-
documentary strategies and research. The goal is to
develop a strong authorial position within one'
s area of interest, allowing participants to work within an
international ecosystem.
In this sense, the course is adaptable and customizable in terms of themes and their application to a
context of both visual creation and presentation/dissemination.
