Toronto is a city of murals and markets, festivals and friendships, kindnesses shared on street corners, and resilience that shines through in every neighborhood. To honor these stories, Toronto Through Our Eyes invites everyone—residents, visitors, newcomers, and long-time Torontonians alike—to share the moments that reveal the city’s capacity for belonging, beauty, hope, and unity.
Presented by SeeingHappy, a nonprofit that has built a global archive of more than 10,000 images celebrating happiness, and the Canadian Positive Psychology Association (CPPA), the contest serves as both a creative outlet and a collective act of storytelling. Each photograph, whether of a joyful community celebration, a small act of generosity, or an everyday glimpse of beauty, adds to a growing visual record of optimism.
Winners will receive prizes and recognition, with their photographs displayed in a Community Exhibition at The Bentway on November 18, 2025. Beyond this central showcase, the project may also spark pop-up exhibitions across Toronto, bringing these powerful images directly into the spaces where people live and gather. These exhibitions aim not just to display art but to encourage civic pride, strengthen social connections, and remind us of the healing power of noticing the good around us.
At its heart, the initiative reflects SeeingHappy’s mission: to use photography as a tool for positivity, mindfulness, and human connection. Every participant retains full rights to their images, ensuring submissions remain personal expressions that contribute to a charitable effort. By launching Toronto Through Our Eyes, SeeingHappy and CPPA hope to remind us all that amid the challenges of modern life, Toronto is filled with countless acts of beauty and resilience waiting to be seen, shared, and celebrated.
