Reframing Realities invites photographers to interrogate the unstable foundations upon which contemporary Europe is built. As we navigate a time defined by crisis—armed conflicts, mass displacement, environmental degradation, and digital overexposure—this theme challenges artists to reflect on how we see, perceive, and believe.
In a media-saturated world where identity is editable, truth is negotiable, and beauty is manufactured, photography becomes a critical tool for questioning dominant narratives. The camera no longer just captures what is there—it creates what might be, reveals what is hidden, and distorts what we think we know. Personal histories, cultural memories, and ecological truths all collide in this shifting visual terrain.
The realities we experience—whether grounded in fact or filtered through personal perception—are under constant reconstruction. What is remembered? What is erased? What new myths are taking shape? Reframing Realities compels us to consider the mechanisms of power that influence what is seen and what is obscured. It calls upon photographers to push boundaries and reclaim visual space in a world where the edges are increasingly difficult to define.
