The Sarajevo Photography Festival (SPF) is an annual international photography event that takes place over the course of a month in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina. Established as a platform for artistic presentation and professional exchange, the festival brings together a diverse community of photographers, curators, educators, and audiences, fostering dialogue across cultural and geographic boundaries.
The opening week of the 2026 edition is scheduled for June 1–7 and will feature a comprehensive program of activities, including curated exhibitions, educational workshops, public lectures, panel discussions, portfolio reviews, and industry networking events. Following the opening week, exhibitions will remain accessible throughout June, extending opportunities for public engagement.
SPF places particular emphasis on photography that engages with contemporary social themes, including human rights, identity formation, collective memory, and cultural heritage. Since its inception in 2022, the festival has received international participation from more than 60 countries, establishing itself as a major regional gathering for photographic professionals and emerging artists alike.
The festival’s competition structure includes eight categories, with awards presented annually to the top three entries in each. The jury may also grant honorable mentions to exceptional works. The Grand Prix carries a cash award of 2,000 EUR, while each first-place category winner receives a prize sponsored by Canon along with an official festival statue. The total prize fund amounts to approximately 7,000 EUR.
