The Sarajevo Photography Festival (SPF) is an annual, month-long international event dedicated to celebrating photography in the cultural heart of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Designed as a meeting point for both emerging and established photographers, the festival provides a vibrant platform for artistic exchange, professional development, and meaningful cultural dialogue. Through its diverse programming, SPF encourages conversations that connect visual storytelling with contemporary social issues.
The opening week of the 2026 edition will take place from June 1 through June 7, offering an extensive program that includes exhibitions, educational workshops, artist lectures, panel discussions, portfolio reviews, and networking opportunities. While the main events are concentrated in the opening week, exhibitions will remain on view throughout the entire month of June, allowing visitors extended access to the featured works.
With a strong commitment to socially engaged photography, the festival highlights projects addressing topics such as human rights, identity, migration, and cultural heritage. Since its founding in 2022, SPF has attracted submissions from more than 60 countries and has grown into one of the largest networking platforms for photographers in the region.
Each year, the festival recognizes excellence by awarding the top three winners in each of its eight competition categories. The jury may also present honorable mentions to additional outstanding submissions. The Grand Prix recipient receives a cash prize of 2,000 EUR, while all first-place category winners receive professional awards sponsored by Canon along with an official festival statue. In total, the festival distributes prizes valued at approximately 7,000 EUR.
