Open Call for the Castelfiorentino Prize for the Arts: Photography 4_2024

"Beyond and Elsewhere: Contemporary Photography in Search of Possible Futures for a Conscious Innovation of Vision"
The Award
The Castelfiorentino Photography Award is made possible thanks to the contributions from:

This award features two sections:
OPEN: For individuals over 18 years old.
STUDENT: For photography students from universities, academies, and schools.
Objectives
The award aims to:
Map the work of talented contemporary photographers.
Focus on students in photography schools, academies, and universities.
Promote Castelfiorentino as a place of cultural interest.
Highlight the Fondo Fotografico David Bastianoni, preserving an important part of the municipality’s history.
Digital platforms such as traditional websites, Instagram, and Facebook will be used for promotion.
Submission Rules
Eligibility:
Individuals over 18 years old.
Students enrolled in a school, academy, or university during the 2023-2024 academic year.
Photographers can submit projects individually or as a group.
The theme of the contest is free.
Projects must not have received any awards prior to submission.
Participation Rules
Candidates must fill out and sign the submission form available online for both Open and Student categories. Confirmation of candidates will be sent via email. Projects must be sent via WeTransfer to the provided email address.
Deadline: October 30, 2024, at 11:59 pm.
File Format and Technical Specifications:
Projects must be in PDF format, including the title, descriptive text, images, and CV.
The file should be named: NameLastName_yearofbirth or CollectiveName_yearofbirth (e.g., MarioRossi_1995).
The file must not exceed 25 megabytes.
Participants guarantee:
The submitted project has never received prior awards.
Authorship and rights to the work.
High-resolution images for projection and exhibition if selected.
Jury and Evaluations
The jury consists of five members: gallerists, curators, professors, and professional photographers:

The jury will consider the expressive and design characteristics of the projects. Their decision is final and irrevocable.
Awards:
Open section: €3,000 for the best photographic project.
Student section: €500 for the best photographic project.
Additional Selections: Four projects from the Open Category and four from the Student Category will be selected in addition to the winners.
Exhibitions and Publications:
Winning projects will be exhibited in the former oratory of San Carlo.
Publication in the magazine "GENTE DI FOTOGRAFIA."
Catalog with winning and shortlisted images and a list of all participants.
Online gallery for shortlisted projects with one photo and contact information for each participant.
Key Dates
Announcement of Winners: November 10, 2024.
Award Ceremony: November 30, 2024, at the Teatro del Popolo in Castelfiorentino.
