Profoto - February: Mixing Ambient and Flash Open Call





When available light meets flash, technical skill and creative intent intersect. This challenge focuses on mastering the delicate balance between ambient exposure and artificial light—using the existing light in your surroundings as a foundation, then enhancing and sculpting it with flash to achieve precise control over mood, depth, and subject emphasis.

From softly lit golden hour portraits to complex nighttime city scenes, demonstrate how you manage shutter speed, aperture, ISO, and flash power to seamlessly combine both light sources. We’re looking for images that show intentional control, where ambient light sets the scene and flash elevates it, resulting in photographs that are stronger and more refined than either approach on its own.
