The Prince Claus Fund awards 100 Seed Awards each year to cultural practitioners and artists in their first five years of work.
Through the Seed Awards, we honor emerging artists and provide initial financial assistance to cultural practitioners whose artistic output addresses pressing social and/or political issues in their local context.
Prince Claus Seed Awards assist emerging artists in developing their practice on their own terms and exploring new perspectives. Their goal is to help create a world where culture can use its transformative power to effect positive change, as they do with Impact Awards and Mentorship.
Once a year, artists and individuals from our working countries in Africa, Asia, Latin America, the Caribbean, and Eastern Europe are invited to apply for the Prince Claus Seed Awards. The Prince Claus Fund evaluates and screens applications to determine eligibility. Each year, the Seed Award winners are announced in December. The 5,000 euros awarded to winners can be used however they see fit to advance their artistic practice.
British Council and the Ing Yoe Tan Fund played a role in making the Prince Claus Seed Awards possible in part.
