PhotoPlace Gallery is seeking photographic submissions for Animalia: Our Shared World, a juried exhibition that celebrates the remarkable variety of animal species and the meaningful connections they create within the natural world. From domestic animals that share our homes to wildlife inhabiting forests, fields, and oceans, the exhibition welcomes images portraying the countless creatures that make up our planet's ecosystems. Birds, insects, reptiles, amphibians, marine life, and other animals are all part of this celebration of biodiversity and our shared environment.
The call encourages photographers to present original interpretations of animal life, focusing on subjects such as appearance, personality, movement, behavior, and relationships. Images may capture animals in their natural surroundings, document encounters between humans and animals, portray the intimacy of life with companion animals, or explore broader themes concerning the relationship between wildlife and the environment. Both traditional and experimental photographic approaches are welcome, and submissions across all photographic genres and processes will be considered.
The selection process will be led by juror Wendi Schneider, who will choose up to 35 photographs for exhibition at PhotoPlace Gallery in Middlebury, Vermont, alongside approximately 40 additional selections for the gallery's online presentation. All accepted works will be reproduced in the exhibition book and preserved permanently on the gallery's website. Selected photographers will also benefit from additional visibility through PhotoPlace Gallery's publications and social media promotion, allowing their work to reach a wider audience.
