PhotoPlace Gallery invites photographers to submit their work for After Dark, a juried exhibition dedicated to images created during the nighttime hours, from dusk through dawn. This exhibition seeks to highlight the artistic possibilities that emerge when natural light fades and new visual narratives take shape.
We welcome a broad spectrum of photographic approaches, including but not limited to night and astrophotography landscapes, urban and street scenes, architectural studies, long-exposure techniques, light painting or drawing, and experimental practices. From the vibrant glow of illuminated cityscapes to the stillness of remote, unlit environments, the exhibition aims to showcase how photographers interpret and transform darkness. Special attention is given to works that explore the interplay between light and shadow, as well as the creative manipulation of time and exposure.
Photographers working in all styles, genres, and processes are encouraged to apply. We are particularly interested in images that evoke atmosphere, mood, and a strong sense of place unique to the night.
We are pleased to announce that Lance Keimig will serve as juror for After Dark: Night, Sky, and Shadows. He will select up to 35 images for inclusion in the in-gallery exhibition at PhotoPlace Gallery in Middlebury, Vermont, along with an additional 40 works to be featured in the Online Gallery. All selected images—up to 75 in total—will be published in the exhibition catalog, permanently archived on the gallery’s website, and promoted عبر social media channels with direct links to each photographer’s website.
