PhotoPlace Gallery proudly invites photographers from around the world to submit their work for OPEN CALL: A Celebration of Contemporary Photography, a juried exhibition dedicated to highlighting the innovation, diversity, and dynamic spirit of contemporary photographic practice.

Presented in honor of World Photography Day, this annual exhibition serves as one of the gallery’s most inclusive and far-reaching calls for entry. Photographers of all backgrounds, experience levels, and artistic approaches are encouraged to participate. The exhibition embraces the full spectrum of photographic expression, welcoming submissions across every genre and process — including landscape, portraiture, documentary, fine art, conceptual, experimental, mixed media, and alternative photographic techniques.

Whether your work explores intimate personal narratives, broader social themes, or purely visual experimentation, this exhibition offers an opportunity to share your current creative vision with an international audience. Traditional photographic methods and boundary-pushing contemporary practices are equally encouraged, making this open call a celebration of photography in all its forms.

PhotoPlace Gallery is honored to welcome Paula Tognarelli alongside Gallery Director Zach Hoffman as jurors for this year’s exhibition. Together, they will select up to 35 photographs for display in the gallery’s physical exhibition space in Middlebury, Vermont, as well as an additional 40 photographs for inclusion in the Online Gallery exhibition.

All selected works — a total of 75 images — will be professionally reproduced in the exhibition catalog, permanently archived on the gallery’s website, and promoted through social media channels with direct links to each photographer’s website or portfolio, providing valuable international exposure for participating artists.
