In its ongoing quest to champion emerging artists, the Photometria International Photography Festival is giving its long-running student competition a complete overhaul. The familiar “Photometria Student Awards” will now be known as “Youth Collective,” a name that signals a wider embrace of creative minds aged 18 to 25, no matter where—or even whether—they study.

The shift acknowledges that significant photographic innovation often germinates beyond the classroom walls. By freeing entrants from academic prerequisites, Photometria invites graphic-design majors, young filmmakers, computer-science enthusiasts, street artists, and adventurous hobbyists alike to present their photographic visions. The festival’s curatorial team anticipates a mosaic of aesthetics—documentary realism, conceptual montage, experimental analog processes, digital remixing, and hybrid forms that defy easy categorization.

Aspiring participants should mark their calendars: the call for entries opens 1 June 2025 and closes 30 June 2025.  Over those 30 days, the festival will sift through portfolios that question norms, push technological boundaries, and amplify under-represented narratives. The selected works will not only gain exhibiting opportunities but also join a vibrant network of peers who are collectively re-shaping the photographic landscape.
