The PhMuseum International Photo Festival will hold its third edition in Bologna, Italy, from 22 September to 1 October 2023. This year's theme is "I Don't Know How To Respond To That," which is the default response given by virtual assistants like Apple Siri when they are unable to answer a question. The festival aims to explore our current times and the interaction between humans and machines, the evolution of language, and the unsolved issues we face. Through the exhibited works, the festival will examine how our relationship with technology is shaping our existence in a world of constant innovation.
Artists are invited to submit visual projects that reflect their interpretation of the theme. All forms of approach are accepted, and applicants may also include links to videos or installation shots. The festival will select at least four projects for individual exhibitions, up to 40 images for a collective installation, and up to 20 works for projections. Applicants will receive a free daily pass to attend the festival.
The festival organizers, along with a panel of photographers who were prominent in last year's edition, look forward to reviewing submissions and welcoming applicants to Bologna in September.
