From fleeting glances exchanged between strangers to bold confrontations unfolding in plain sight, street photography captures life as it happens — raw, unrehearsed, and beautifully imperfect. It is the art of noticing, of finding stories in the rhythm of the world as it moves past us.
For this exhibition, we invite photographers to share images that reveal the beauty, humor, tension, and quiet humanity hidden in the everyday. These moments might unfold on a crowded subway platform, in the laughter of children at a small-town fair, or in the silence of a rural road where two lives briefly intersect. Whether your images explore the chaos of the city or the stillness of the countryside, we want to see how you transform the ordinary into the extraordinary.
Show us how you observe when life doesn’t pose — when gesture, light, and coincidence collide in a single, truthful frame.
We are honored to welcome Elizabeth Avedon as juror for On the Street. Avedon will select up to 35 photographs for exhibition in our Middlebury, Vermont gallery and an additional 40 images for our Online Gallery. All 75 selected works will be featured in the printed exhibition catalog, archived permanently on our website, and shared across our social media platforms — with direct links to each photographer’s portfolio.
This exhibition is a celebration of seeing — of the photographers who pause long enough to witness the poetry of real life unfolding on the street.
