Winter is a season of transformation, and with FROZEN, we are seeking photographs that embody its distilled essence—images that capture the hushed beauty of cold air and crystalline light. Think of the stillness of a snow-covered hill at sunrise, the fragile lace of frost forming overnight, a river stilled mid-current by ice, or the breath that turns visible in the chill. Winter invites us to pause, to notice the geometry and texture that emerge when the world slows into silence.
For this call, we are not confined by style or approach. We welcome photographs that are stark and minimalist, offering quiet meditations on form and absence, as well as those that are detailed and lush, revealing the hidden intricacies of ice, snow, and seasonal light. Black-and-white or color, analogue or digital, traditional or experimental—every method is encouraged. What matters most is the ability to show us how the frozen world transforms the ordinary into the extraordinary.
We are honored that Paula Tognarelli will join us as juror for this exhibition. With her discerning eye and curatorial experience, she will select 35 works for display in our Middlebury, Vermont Exhibition Gallery, and an additional 40 works for our Online Gallery. Each of the selected 75 photographs will be featured in the official exhibition catalog, permanently archived on our website, and highlighted through social media promotions with links to the photographers’ own sites.
