In celebration of our ongoing dedication to presenting compelling contemporary photography, Photo Artfolio invites photographers from around the world to submit work for The Human Portrait, a global online exhibition devoted to portraiture in its many and evolving forms. This exhibition seeks to honor the enduring power of the portrait while embracing the diversity of approaches that define the medium today.

The portrait has never been a singular or fixed practice. It lives equally in the controlled space of the studio and the unpredictability of the street, emerging through collaboration, intimacy, and fleeting encounters. Portraits may be carefully staged or spontaneously discovered, rooted in tradition or shaped by experimental strategies that challenge assumptions about representation and identity.

We are seeking portraits that move beyond surface likeness—images that convey presence, emotion, vulnerability, tension, curiosity, or moments of quiet recognition. Selected works will reflect the many ways photographers engage with people, relationships, and the world around them, revealing both individual stories and shared human experience.

Submissions are open to all forms of portrait-based photography, including documentary, fine art, street, conceptual, experimental practices, self-portraiture, and approaches that cross or defy traditional categories. Please note that AI-generated imagery is not eligible for consideration.
