An image encompasses far more than color alone. It is defined by tone, texture, mood, and contrast—by the delicate conversation between illumination and shadow. These elements become particularly pronounced within the realm of black and white photography, where visual information is distilled to its most essential form.
To commemorate the third year of our ongoing commitment to presenting exceptional photographic work, Photo Artfolio is pleased to announce an international call for entries. We invite photographers to submit to a special online exhibition that highlights the expressive power and enduring elegance of black and white imagery.
As a token of appreciation to our steadily expanding community, we are offering one free submission per artist. This opportunity serves as our thank-you for your continuous engagement and support. Additional entries may be submitted for $10 each.
In an environment saturated with color imagery, black and white photography stands distinct. It removes visual noise and challenges both artist and viewer to recognize the foundational elements that construct a compelling photograph—the line, the gesture, the moment suspended in time.
We encourage you to consider what black and white reveals within your own work.Does it uncover a hidden narrative? Convey a sense of timelessness? Expose emotion with greater clarity?
We seek photographs in which tonal range, contrast, and the interplay of light and shadow reveal the true essence of the subject. Submissions are open to all photographic practices, including but not limited to documentary, fine art, landscape, portraiture, street, and conceptual work. AI-generated imagery is not eligible.
