Photo Artfolio - Black & White: The Poetry of Light and Shadow

An image is so much more than a splash of color. It is tone, texture, atmosphere. It is contrast carved by light and shadow, shaping a quiet dialogue that draws the viewer inward. Black and white photography, in particular, reveals these elements with remarkable clarity, inviting us to experience the world through subtleties that color can sometimes obscure.

As we celebrate our third year of elevating photographic voices, Photo Artfolio welcomes photographers from all corners of the globe to participate in a special online exhibition dedicated to the poetic strength of monochrome imagery. This showcase honors the artistry, emotion, and purity that only black and white can offer.

To mark this milestone, we offer a gesture of gratitude to our creative community: each artist may submit one image at no cost. This complimentary entry is our way of acknowledging your support and celebrating the growth we’ve achieved together. Additional submissions are available at $10 each, allowing artists to share a wider range of their vision.

In a culture overflowing with color, black and white photography stands resolute. It removes distraction, pares down complexity, and demands attention to the essentials—the curve of a line, the weight of a gesture, the truth inside a fleeting moment.

What does black and white reveal in your work?A quiet story? A sense of timelessness? An emotion unguarded?

We invite images that elevate the interplay of light and shadow into something lyrical—photographs where tone, contrast, and form work together to uncover the heart of the scene.

All genres are welcome: documentary, fine art, landscape, portraiture, street, conceptual, and more. The only exception is AI-generated imagery, which is not eligible for this exhibition.

Our top three selected works will receive awards:1st Place: $5002nd Place: $3503rd Place: $150
