Participation is open to photographers who want to submit one or more projects built around a defined theme, narrative, or conceptual research. Applicants are free to work in any visual style or photographic method, from traditional approaches to highly experimental and innovative practices. Each submission must consist of 5 to 20 images and demonstrate a strong, coherent artistic vision.
The main award recipients will share a total of €10,000 in prize funding. This amount is allocated as follows: €5,000 for First Prize, €2,000 for Second Prize, and €1,000 for Third Prize. In addition, a New Generation Prize of €2,000 will be granted to support an emerging photographer and the development of future work.
Selected artists will also benefit from significant international exhibition opportunities. One winning project will be presented in a solo exhibition at PhMuseum Lab in Bologna during ArteFiera 2027, with all production costs, travel, and accommodation fully covered.
Further exhibition opportunities will be offered through partner festivals and curators. The PhEST team will choose one project for a solo exhibition at the 11th edition of the PhEST festival in Monopoli, Italy, scheduled for August 2026. Additionally, the Head Curator of Getxophoto will select a project to be exhibited at the next festival edition in Getxo, Spain, in June 2026. This opportunity includes exhibition production support, an artist fee of €400, and two nights of accommodation during the festival’s opening week.
