To take part in the program, photographers are invited to submit one or more cohesive projects developed around a clearly defined theme, narrative, or conceptual framework. Projects may follow any visual approach, ranging from traditional documentary styles to more experimental or conceptual practices. Each submitted project must consist of a minimum of 5 photographs and a maximum of 20 images, forming a coherent and well-developed body of work.
The selected main grant recipients will share a total cash prize of €10,000. The awards are distributed as follows: a €5,000 First Prize, a €2,000 Second Prize, and a €1,000 Third Prize. In addition, the recipient of the New Generation Prize will be awarded a grant of €2,000 in support of their photographic practice.
Beyond the financial grants, selected artists will have access to important exhibition opportunities. One of the awarded projects will be presented as a solo exhibition at PhMuseum Lab in Bologna, Italy, during ArteFiera 2027. This opportunity includes full coverage of production costs, travel expenses, and accommodation.
Further exhibition opportunities include a solo presentation selected by the PhEST team for the 11th edition of the PhEST festival, which will take place in Monopoli, Italy, in August 2026. Additionally, Maria Ptqk, Head Curator of Getxophoto, will select one project to be exhibited during the next edition of the festival in Getxo, Basque Country, Spain, scheduled for June 2026. For this exhibition, the selected artist will receive full production support, an artist fee of €400, and accommodation for two nights during the Opening Week.
