P.M.O.H. Photobook Award - Open Call

The PhMuseum Photobook Award is a new biennial initiative created to support photographers looking to turn their visual projects into compelling books. With this being the first edition of the award, the goal is to select one inspiring project that will be developed into a published photobook. PhMuseum will take care of all production and distribution expenses, ensuring a minimum print run of 500 copies. The chosen photographer will receive 50 of these books, along with 5% of the royalties.

This edition is proudly supported by MPB, Europe’s most trusted platform for second-hand photographic and video gear. In addition to the main award, MPB will collaborate with PhMuseum to identify another deserving artist for a Special Mention. This includes an €800 voucher that the recipient can use to purchase high-quality used equipment—perfect for continuing their creative journey.

The announcement of the winner will take place at Photobook Mania 2025, an event happening on October 18 and 19 in Bologna, Italy. After selection, the winning book will be shaped by PhMuseum’s editorial team, led by Artistic Director Giuseppe Oliverio and Visual Editor Camilla Marrese. The team will work closely with the photographer to refine the content, develop the design, and oversee production. The final publication will be printed by the summer of 2026 and celebrated at the PhMuseum Days 2026 International Photography Festival, also in Bologna.

There is no set theme for this award—photographers are free to submit projects of any kind or style. Whether your project is still in progress or already complete, it’s eligible as long as it hasn’t been made into a book yet. If you have one, feel free to share a book dummy in PDF form or even a video walkthrough. Co-publishing opportunities are also open for discussion. We truly appreciate your interest and wish you all the best in the application process.
