P.M.O.H. Photobook Award - Open Call

The PhMuseum Photobook Award is a biennial competition dedicated to advancing excellence in photography publishing. Launched with the aim of supporting innovative visual storytelling in book form, this inaugural edition will culminate in the publication of one selected photographic project. PhMuseum will assume full responsibility for the production and distribution of the winning title. A minimum print run of 500 copies is guaranteed, with the author receiving 50 copies of the publication and 5% of royalties derived from book sales.

MPB, recognized as one of Europe’s premier platforms for buying and selling used photographic and video equipment, serves as the principal partner for this edition. In collaboration with PhMuseum, MPB will also designate a recipient for their Special Mention. This distinction will come with an €800 voucher, redeemable for second-hand photography and video equipment through MPB’s selection.

The winner of the main award will be formally announced during Photobook Mania 2025, which will take place on October 18th and 19th in Bologna, Italy. Following the announcement, the PhMuseum editorial team—led by Artistic Director Giuseppe Oliverio and Visual Editor Camilla Marrese—will curate and oversee the entire development process, including image editing, book design, and final production. The completed book is scheduled for printing by the summer of 2026 and will be publicly presented during the PhMuseum Days 2026 International Photography Festival, also held in Bologna.

The competition is open-themed, welcoming all conceptual, narrative, and documentary approaches. Applicants are encouraged to submit either ongoing or completed projects that have not yet been transformed into a photobook. Supporting materials, such as a PDF dummy or a video overview, may be included as part of the submission. Co-publishing proposals may also be considered on an individual basis. We extend our gratitude for your interest in the award and look forward to discovering your work.
